Impressive 17.7% Return in stock trading contest.

Dec, 2011 CARTERVILLE, IL - While their counterparts on Wall Street struggled, students in David England's stock and option investment classes (FIN 229 & 230) at John A. Logan College put their new-found knowledge to work in the College≠s annual Investment Challenge and outperformed the market, which saw a loss of 4.89% during the same time period. The winner registered an extremely impressive 17.7% return on his investments.

Every week during the fall semester, the Champaign resident made a nearly 400-mile round-trip trek to John A. Logan College in Carterville to take FIN 230, a financial entrepreneurship class taught by Associate Professor of Finance David England, who educates students about trading and investing in the stock market and securities industries. 9/16/2008 John A. Logan College Associate Professor David England said he believes the market is primed for a correction before starting to go up again. A perfect storm is developing for a major sell-off. He said investors should use the economic environment now to learn how the market works and to learn how to make the market work for them. If you use a broker, you need downside protection to protect yourself in a downturn, he said.

John A. Logan College (JALC) announced that it has become one of only 12 colleges in the country to offer TC2007 software, a program that allows professional money managers to analyze the stock market.
